NOVEMBER 2016

Creative Collaborations

This has once again proved to be a busy and  exciting month!

We have been privilieged to be invited to lead on a number of truly inspirational workshops at a variety of events which have been both enjoyable and rewarding.

An event held in conjunction with The Alzheimers Society and Connection Point at Worcester County Hall, Worcestershire was particularly enjoyable and inspirational for me on both a personal and professional level.

Those attending the workshop were of a variety of ages, levels and abilities.  However,   the enthusiasm and general open-minded, friendly approach to the session displayed by all whilst sharing with me to provide an insight as to how their daily lives are affected was particularly humbling for me.  I was fortunate to meet and interact with a number of attendees that engaged me with their enchanting personalities as much as I hope I inspired them by sharing new techniques and an introduction to mixed media. I was amazed by the final outcome of the various styles of individual wooden keepsake boxes produced, using the technique of Decoupage which had only been introduced/shared with them that very evening at the beginning of the sesion.  The the results produced within such a short timescale was most impressive!

Another highlight of this month was to discover we have been selected to produce a site-specific commission for the Nottingham Light Night event in 2017.

We are honoured and  incredibly excited to have been selected for this fantastic opportunity in conjunction with Nottingham City Council and Nottingham BID

Although I can't yet divulge too much information re: the detailed content of this forthcoming commission, I can guarantee this will be one of our most creative challenges to date!

Lastly and certainly by no means least, I am excpetionally pleased to announce that I will be actively involved in the Lead Creative Schools initiative in Wales as from January 2017.

This is an exciting partnership between the Arts Council of Wales and the Welsh Government, with the emphasis on embedding creativity and the arts at the heart of learning.

Following an intense 2-day training course earlier this month in preparation for this, I am really looking forward to working with a range of Creative Practitioners, Teachers and of course (most importantly) pupils to support and encourage this fantastic collaboration.
